#310 - Twilight of The Hod: Sleeping Deadly
A big machine and an even bigger power source… sounds like a fun combination to me.

very interesting…so Hel is a power source…I never believed our liddle Hod would do that to her…talk about your crystal power…quite new-age of him.

Oh my, I’m tellin’ ya, Pooka is a bad influence on him. It’s the only way he’d treat Hel like that. How’d Pooka get his claws in Hod so deeply, so fast?

@j c rouille - Gee, I read it that they needed to load the power sources to the sonic sleep chamber to keep her asleep. Your comment made me look more carefully, and it does seem to be Hel’s chamber that they are loading into a larger machine.
@Wynni - So fast? Do we know how many millenia have passed since we first met Pookah?
Boy, am I waiting for explanations. But patiently…

I still staunchly believe that’s not OUR Hod. He adores Hel.
And if it IS our Hod… there’s a reason for what he’s doing. Being framed for your brother’s murder can make a dude cranky after all… and Hod ALWAYS has a reason for what he does.
*snf!*

Actually, I can much more believe that it *IS* our Hod now — when I thought they had toasted Hel, I couldn’t believe Hod had actually done that — but now that we know that it was all just to be able to capture her (and apparently use her as a power source), it’s not so bad (though Hel will *not* be happy about it). All I can say is that Hod better damn well have an awesomely good reason for all he’s doing once Hel wakes up.

I just realised I should have been tinting all the stuff in Hel’s realm green.
Um… let’s say that, with Hel down for the count… er… her power no longer holds sway over her realm, hence the color change. Yeah… that should work…
Do I get a no-prize?
July 31st, 2008 at 10:27 am
Heh. Nobody noticed it apparently…
Also, Helheim itself is probably not such a bad place, I think Niflhel or Nastrond is the realm where it’s “bowels for breakfast”.
Sleeping deadly has a little dual personality there I guess. Cranky

@Frumph - Thanks for pointing that out… I hadn’t realized there was a problem with the RSS feed. I’ll see if I can get that fixed this weekend.
And for all the readers of Brat-halla that really enjoy webcomics in general, be sure to check out Frumph’s website, http://www.frumph.net (it’s a good little site focused on webcomics).
@Anthony Lee - Your no-prize is in the no-mail.
@EVERYONE - I love all these theories about what’s happening! Keep ‘em coming.

A reveal i can understand at last.
Hod is evil in all the little ways. “Emo cam on the dwarfs tear”
although it could be the dragon spits when he talks.
whats the point of being an evil overlord if you cant enjoy it?
August 1st, 2008 at 10:28 am
I think it’s dragon spit.
Anyways, it must have taken a hell of alot of power to simply knock Hel out. I suppose that since there are firey places in her realm, she would be somewhat immune to fire.

Hey Jeffrey thanks! Any chance I can get a contact email from you?

Sorry if this has been thought of before… but I just noticed Hod’s eyes, like really noticed.
The pookah is a shape shifter. If you find one it is not unusual to find 2. Could it be the Evil Hod is just a pookah? Of the fairies they are some of the meanest and complete and total tricksters.

Hod’s eyes in this arc are artificial implants — as he says in episode #298 “I’m so glad I upgraded to the high resolution eyes earlier this week” (and who can blame him). Now whether this is truly “our Hod”, I dunno - his actions against both Hel and the Valkyries tend to make me doubtful (however he wasn’t trying to kill Hel - so that’s a mark for “our Hod”; but he *did* try to kill the Valkyries - which isn’t like “our Hod” at all).
