@Jasta and JC, some of the fans are younger. A few parents share this with their kids and have done so since the start.
@ Rayna: I understand and appreciate his self-restraint. My wife and sons are also readers and I was not criticizing the lack of “visable feminine endowments”, but rather commenting on the black bar’s resemblance (if you get all squinty eyed and tilt your head…just…so…) to a bandeau.
And isn’t it wonderful how even in the midst of Sif’s Melee, the boys are still stunned in place – very Xanthian.
I love it, Methinks the stunned started because of bare “wimmen ‘n’ weapons” and is now droolage over a Sif gone posta. I can see it now “Man, did you see how Sif hacked that last one?” “She has an admirable Rap shot” rofl. I ‘m loving it.

Down with the censor bar! I think a more creative positioning of limbs (the subject’s or someone else’s) would have done the trick without resorting to the black bar.
@ Rayna: Oh, I completely understand and empathize; I share the strip with my son and several Norse-fanatic nieces & nephews, and until they’re old enough, “none of that!”

Ah, the Janet Jackson At The Superbowl syndrome even applies to comics… that black bar is pretty intrusive and ugly, though. Sureyl if bared female nipples are such a big deal, it could have been remodelled as a bra top or Valkyrie-like chest armour, something in context? Although in history, myth and legend, Celtic women did fight naked, like their men… so there’s a censorship problem.
Bloody good research, though! I’ hoping when the Morrigan enters the story, we might have, say, Sif knocking her ocld, then turning away, dusting her hands , only to hese a “hem, HEM!” fro behind her to see Macha and Badhbh standing there, politely reminding her “I’m a triple goddess – you have the THREE of me to deal with, y’wee Scandiwegian gobshite”!”
