#392 – Jr. Pantheon Games: The Quester Kid

Apparently, this is the kind of school Thor can really get into.

Every child has a subject that, if school were centered around, they would excel. When I was a kid, if you’d quizzed me on the finer aspects of the Mario and Zelda games, as well as the correct order of power balance in Mega Man 3, I would’ve aced it. I also located every hidden room in Sonic 2 as well as Sonic and Knuckles, and had half of the Sonic 3 hidden rooms located (although I didn’t own that particular game).

…just so long as I wasn’t quizzed on Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, because that would have caused a relapse and I would’ve curled into a ball whimpering something about speeder-bikes. That blasted level literally had me screaming with frustration. (Like every other eight or nine year old that was trying to play a game that required split-second timing and pattern recognition, really. You had half a second to determine if you needed to jump, boost, or jump AND boost, and if you got it wrong, you had to start at the beginning of it. Lose all your lives, and you had to start AT THE START OF THE PREVIOUS LEVEL.)

    …freakin’ Battletoads.

…is it wrong to say that Ereshkigal looks cute in that last panel when she’s frustrated at Thor?

  2. That is my kid, I had to share it with her (and her sister).

    Thanks.

Well, now Zeus’s recruitment of Xarenia and Arazel becomes more clear: they’re ringers :)

Thor seems to be finding that school may not be so bad after all, though Ereshkigal seems to be finding that school may be worse than the underworld. . . .

oh no I’ve caught up! I now have to learn to wait for my Brat-Halla fix *sigh* I’m no good at waiting for things I like this much…….

Thank you for making such a fantastic comic and keep up the great work – I’m looking forward to laughing at whatever mayhem the brats get up to next…..

and finally I hope you keep doing Hod’s comic, it is my favourite!!

“thus begins the artistic and autobiographical adventures of our young, good looking hero, Hod. Alone, darkness his only friend, he sets forth on the bravest of quests” – I say this at random moments of my day…. it always makes me smile!

I found this two days ago via QC and just caught up! It is great, I did a classics degree and love the references.
Also, it is an excellent way to pass the time while off work with flu…

    Love that Loki translates Thorese.
