Question For the Readers

I’ve been debating for a while what I want to do with the news/blog section out here. Aside from the occasional update on what Seth, Anthony and I are up to elsewhere, I wanted to do more out here, but I also wanted to try to keep it focused toward Brat-halla’s general theme.
I could discuss Norse mythology… or even just mythology in general. I could give some behind-the-scenes info about the making of Brat-halla. I could discuss mythology in other media (books, TV, games, etc). On the other hand, I could just as easily discuss family issues and relationships. Or webcomics/comics and making of such. Or even go down the more generalized fantasy genre route.
When you think about it, there’s a lot that could be discussed here. So, I thought I’d bring it up with our loyal readers… what could I write about in this blog that would make the Brat-halla website even more entertaining for you?
I love hearing about the comic-making process. Everything from why something was done how it was; scrapped story lines; art problems, just everything in general.
I would personaliy like to hear more about the mythology thats behind the comic characters, yes do that please
More of the Mythology, would help more readers catch some of the inside jokes. Plus we’d learn a little something along the way and that can’t be all bad.
Mythology is good read, but i’d like to see the process
I would love to discuss mythology within our culture. i.e. movies, tv, games, politics involving enchanted weapons, etc.
I would also enjoy delving into the idea generation process.
Really, I love Nordic Mythology and more can never be a bad thing.
My vote: Norse mythology and modern associations. Like that new Viking game that just came out. Looks sah-weet.
Why strap yourself down to one topic? There will be comics where the most interesting thing about it would be how it was produced/created/what started the idea. There will be comics in which the mythology will be the most entertaining, and there will be the rare comic where the most informative thing is what happened to you that day.
I say, keep it free form, and use it for whatever is most enlightening/entertaining that day.
I agree with Wynni: don’t limit yourself if you’ve got an inspiration about something. Some discussion of the mythology will help new readers who don’t know any mythology at all (quite a few from previous comments) and thus have a hard time getting the humor (tho guys–you could just look it up on Wikipedia).
I like the idea of discussing scrapped storylines and tips for budding artists, but more specifically what happens when you try a new technique.
Basically, whatever strikes yer fancy will give me insight into the creators and make the comic a new dimension
Perhaps a rotating series on the writing process, art process, comic publishing business, and mythology, with occasional bonus articles on cross-cultural mythology. The “Pantheon Games” sequence was absolutely enthralling, and a fascinating look at how deities of similar purview might interact.
Thanks for the input everyone. It’s really appreciated. I think I’ll keep it open to pretty much any topic, but I’ll do my best to throw in a lot of mythology and comic-making/behind-the-scenes stuff.
I applaud your decision. Whatever interests you at a given point in time is likely going to be interesting to us. Enjoy the process.
